I first met Dr. Rashid A. Buttar at a medical conference about five years ago. We had much in common. A year later I went to one of his AMESPA physician training courses and was amazed at the effort and creativity he had put into bringing medicine into the 21st century. I have learned a lot from him since. We’ve written papers together, become good friends and have been close associates ever since.

A 3 palm Eagle Scout, Boy’s State selectee and West Point appointee, Dr. Buttar chose to attend Washington University in St. Louis on a full military scholarship. He played varsity football, was a member of Phi Delta Theta, served on the student body and was a ROTC cadet ranger

After earning a double major in Biology and Theology, he attended medical school at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences, College of Medicine and Surgery, in Des Moines, Iowa, and then trained in General Surgery and Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Buttar served with and/or was attached to multiple units, including the 2nd Infantry Division, the 101st Air Assault Division and the 5th Special Forces Group. He served as Brigade Surgeon for 3rd Brigade, 2nd ID, in the Republic of South Korea and later as Chief, Department of Emergency Medicine, at Moncrief Army Community Hospital at Ft. He has achieved fellowship status in three separate medical societies: Fellow of the American College for Advancement in Medicine, Fellow of the American Academy of Preventive Medicine and Fellow of the American Association of Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Buttar practices in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the medical director of the Center for Advanced Medicine and Clinical Research. With a special emphasis on the interrelationship between toxicity and the insidious disease process, the center specializes in reducing the resulting oxidative stress and helping those suffering from cancer, autism, heart disease, stroke and many other conditions too numerous to list regain their health and vitality.

Dr. Buttar also serves as Director of Clinical Research and Development for V-SAB Medical Laboratories, where he is involved in research with peptide sequencing and identification technologies as well as innovative methodologies for drug delivery systems. He has presented more than 150 lectures worldwide at scientific congresses and professional symposiums and is frequently invited to speak at medical conferences. He also received a bi-partisan nomination from Congresswoman Diane Watson (CA) and Congressman Dan Burton (IN) for the National Institute of Health’s Director’s Pioneer Award for his clinical work in metal toxicity and autism. He was in charge of the national training program leading to board certification in metal toxicology through ABCMT and was also a member of the twelve-member National Metals Task Force appointed to address the endemic nature of metal toxicity and the implications on world health.
